Logistics:
The part of the planning committee that supports security, camping,
trash keep-up, parking, RV arrangement, tents, basically planning
the layout of the Relay Area. Also volunteer recruitment.
Survivorship:
The part of the planning committee that supports the survivors
in the Relay. This committee plans the survivor tent layout,
activities, & comfort for the survivors at the Relay. They
keep records of those signing up and help encourage survivors
to come to the Relay and be honored.
Entertainment:
The part of the planning committee that supports all entertainment
for the 24-hour period of the Relay. Such as the music, games,
youth participation, etc.
Public Relations:
The part of the planning committee, which supports all public relations,
related to this Relay. They find the special stories we need
to tell. They make sure ads are placed for the Relay Kickoff,
meeting notices, special events held for the Relay cause. The
WALK-TALK Relay Newsletter is in this area. Working with the
Regional Executive of Income Development from the American Cancer
Society to insure public relations for the Relay.
Registration:
The part of the planning committee that supports all registration
operations of the Relay. This committee creates their own record
keeping of all monies coming into the Relay for registration,
luminarias, team donations & individual and corporate sponsorship.
Also, T-shirt ordering for walkers.
Luminaria:
The part of the planning committee that supports all luminaria
donations. Luminaries are where individuals honor or dedicate
a candle, which is placed into a bag with the person's name on
it. We have a luminaria ceremony at 9pm the first evening of
the Relay and line the track with these bags. This committee
keeps records of all luminaria purchased and sells luminarias
at all meetings. It also places all luminaria bags around the
track.
