There are plenty of opportunities to support this Relay, even if you are not available the weekend of the event. Below are listed some of the planning areas.  Click here for a list of volunteer opportunities on the planning committee.

Logistics:
The part of the planning committee that supports security, camping, trash keep-up, parking, RV arrangement, tents, basically planning the layout of the Relay Area. Also volunteer recruitment.

Survivorship:
The part of the planning committee that supports the survivors in the Relay. This committee plans the survivor tent layout, activities, & comfort for the survivors at the Relay. They keep records of those signing up and help encourage survivors to come to the Relay and be honored.

Entertainment:
The part of the planning committee that supports all entertainment for the 24-hour period of the Relay. Such as the music, games, youth participation, etc.

Public Relations:
The part of the planning committee, which supports all public relations, related to this Relay. They find the special stories we need to tell. They make sure ads are placed for the Relay Kickoff, meeting notices, special events held for the Relay cause. The WALK-TALK Relay Newsletter is in this area. Working with the Regional Executive of Income Development from the American Cancer Society to insure public relations for the Relay.

Registration:
The part of the planning committee that supports all registration operations of the Relay. This committee creates their own record keeping of all monies coming into the Relay for registration, luminarias, team donations & individual and corporate sponsorship. Also, T-shirt ordering for walkers.

Luminaria:
The part of the planning committee that supports all luminaria donations. Luminaries are where individuals honor or dedicate a candle, which is placed into a bag with the person's name on it. We have a luminaria ceremony at 9pm the first evening of the Relay and line the track with these bags. This committee keeps records of all luminaria purchased and sells luminarias at all meetings. It also places all luminaria bags around the track, and puts together the power point program for the Saturday evening Luminaria Service.
